“In 1962, several grape growers in the Nájera area decided to build a cooperative winery, which they called ‘Bodega Interlocal Cooperativa’ with the acronym ‘BINCO’. In its beginnings it grouped the towns of Azofra, Nájera, Hormilla, Hormilleja and Arenzana de Abajo, as well as some growers from other towns in the area. The cooperative was founded in 1963 on an estate within the municipality of Nájera
Several extensions followed and, in 1999, it was decided to demolish the old building, leaving only the last expansion of 1996.
In 2000, the Cooperative’s new winery was built and, a year later, the hospitality building. At this time, it was decided to change the name to BODEGA REAL DE NÁJERA, S.Coop.
Today, the Cooperative groups growers from the same municipalities as it did when it was founded, with 190 members owning about 650 hectares of vineyards.
Our facilities are constantly updated and today include a large number of stainless steel tanks, presses and a laboratory run by professional winemakers.”
