Nájera

The very noble and very loyal city of Nájera, residence of kings, transmits history and the value of the traditional through its architecture and monuments.

27 km from Logroño Altitude: 485 metres above sea level. It has a surface area of 39.87 sq km.

There are about 1,223 hectares of rainfed crop land in Nájera, of which almost 65% (797 hectares) are dedicated to the vine.

Its main feast is held in June in honour of San Juan and San Pedro.

Its monuments include the Monastery of Santa María la Real.

Close to Nájera, in the Monastery of San Millán de la Cogolla, the first Ode to Wine in Spanish was written:

I wish to make prose in the plain romance,
that people use to talk to their neighbours,
as I am not so learned as to use a different Latin,
that will be well worth, I believe, a glass of good wine..

Our winery is located on the road towards Santo Domingo de la Calzada (Nájera) where we receive choice grapes from Arenzana de Abajo, Azofra, Hormilla, Hormilleja and Nájera.
